There is much to learn about the Bible and about Jesus Christ. The most important thing to know is that God loves you very much and has a wonderful plan for your life. The Bible tells us that there is joy in heaven every time someone comes to Christ for forgiveness and salvation. God sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross in our place for our sins that by accepting Him we can now enter freely into heaven. I will explain a bit about salvation, and how we get to heaven.

The Bible shows us that we cannot earn our own salvation. But that Jesus paid the full price for our sins when He died on the cross in our place. Doing good deeds will give us rewards in heaven, but it cannot get us into heaven because no one is good enough. You would have to be perfect to get to heaven by your own merits. The Bible says that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We have all made mistakes. Everyone has sinned. That is why we need a savior. Trying to get to heaven by good works is like trying to jump up to the moon. It can’t be done! But, if NASA were to let you ride one of their space ships to the moon you could go. That is what Jesus did for us. He is our way to get to heaven. He paid the price of the trip and will give us the ride to Heaven. There is no other way to get to heaven other than through Jesus and His death on the cross in our place. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. And no one can come to the father but by me.” It would be like going on an expensive world cruise that you could never afford. If someone paid the full price of your ticket you would be able to go as long as you were willing to take the offer of letting someone else pay. You wouldn’t have to pay when you arrived. You would just have to show them your ticket. They would see it was paid in full and allow you on. It is also that way to get to heaven. All you need is to accept it. If a ticket was purchased from another cruise line, it would not be accepted. Jesus paid the full price of your ticket. Jesus, being the creator God, is the only one who has never sinned, but instead you may find that you are booked on the Titanic. Since Jesus is without sin, He could die in our place on the cross for our sins. A ticket purchased by fraud would be useless. God knows your heart. So also, if you try to get to heaven by any other way you will be refused. Jesus is the ONLY way to get to heaven. Your own good works cannot get you there. A denomination or church cannot get you there. No religion can get you there. Only by accepting what Jesus did on the cross can get you to heaven. Jesus told the story of two men. One, a Pharisee, who was righteous in his own eyes (self-righteous) and another, a publican, who knew he was a sinner. Jesus shows us the publican was forgiven after saying this prayer: “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Luke 18:13

Simply by asking God to forgive our sins and believing that Jesus gave his life on the cross to pay our way to heaven, we can be saved. All it takes is asking Him.
